Online Photography Courses – Is Green Screen Photography For Me?
Are you sick and tired of shooting the same old portraits, again and again? You’ve probably heard about chroma key or “green screen” being the way to go, except you don’t truly understand it or even know what awesome results it can provide? Here is all you’ll need to know to use it as a photography background tool!
Firstl… what is it?
Chroma key solely means utilizing a background which is one unpatterned, evenly lit colour. The colours green and blue tend to be the most employed colors. In reality, you can employ any colour at all, but blue and green are easiest. There are reasons for this explained below.
Second… how does it work?
Chroma key procedures may be utilized in a studio environment with video and still photography. You photograph someone in front of a green screen and then in post processing (Photoshop or other editing software) you delete the solid color and swap it with anything you would like for the background. It’s that simple!
Next… why blue or green?
Generally we tend to use green and blue since they’re the furthest away from the colours presented by skin tones. The procedure was initially executed with blue, though as the standard of cameras have improved, green appears to work more efficiently. It is easier to strip from the background and as a result most studios are using green.
There are three types of green screen backdrops to choose from. These are: paint, paper and fabric.
Paint is beneficial for people with a studio that has a background painted on a wall and all your work is shot there. No good for location work; this is a permanent solution.
Paper is available in long rolls in various widths, but is easily damaged and repeatedly needs replacing. This tends to get expensive in the long run. A background holder and stand is also required; this is also a permanent solution.
Fabric tends to live longest and is portable. In addition material is simple to clean and fold away for another day or location work. This tends to be a sensible choice for flexibility.
Any material retailer can provide some material that would do for the background; and it’s not expensive. Obtain a little and do some tests with your Portrait Photography; any picture editing program is capable of taking out the color for you. Experiment with it; you may be impressed with the results!
Reference to a suitable online photography course would open this technique further; there is much to be learned about this technique in assisting your photography skills.
